I've been a realtor since I was 18- and worked with my mom helping her with her business even before that. I absolutely love doing real estate! I have always loved looking at all the different houses with her. Before we bought our house in 2003, we must have looked at over 1000 homes! It was so exciting to see all the different styles and designs. Even back then I knew I wanted to be a realtor. I started studying when I was 17- plus working in the office- and got my license right after I turned 18. My mom and I worked together at Oregon First for a year, so I was involved in all the office meetings and education- and learned a lot! It taught me to take real estate extremely seriously- Our Principle Broker loved to tell us horror stories about all the things that had gone wrong in other realtor's transactions! He wanted us to realize that we had to make sure everything was done right- and on time! It was good training for me, being so young- It brought me up right! I sold 35 houses my first year, and even more last year... Some buyers and some listings. So I have quite a bit of experience in selling homes and taking care of all the important details- like home inspections, negotiations, escrow etc.
I also worked with my mom since I was about 10 on all kinds of remodeling jobs! I helped with plumbing, rewired our downstairs, helped build walls, sheet rocked and mudded, replaced dry rot, painted and taped! Right now I am working on my own house that we bought last year. My husband and I put in a bathroom from scratch, (with a permit!), redid the hardwoods, redid the drainage and all kinds of things! So I, too, have a lot of experience in remodeling and building! It seems like I was raised with a hammer and paint brush in my hand! So because of this, I will be able to help you assess a home before you make an offer- as to what repairs probably need to be done, and whether the problems could be easily fixed, or if there may possibly be serious underlying issues that would cost a lot of money and take a lot of experience to repair. I'm not an expert- and if you do make an offer, you still need to hire a professional inspector- but I can help you through the process of weeding out the easily do-able fixers and the ones to stay away from. This helps me when I am working with buyers- because I can spot a lot of problems and issues they may not have noticed!
I've also had a lot of responsibility since I was pretty young . When I was 14 I worked at the Espresso Stand outside Home Depot- where my mom worked! It was extremely busy- I made $50 a day in tips a lot of times! I opened and closed it myself- pretty much handling everything! Then I worked at Starbucks for a year. All this responsibility has helped me a lot in my real estate. I know things have to be done - and I get right on it and do it!
We are now in the process of selling our own house. We have bought land out in the country- near McMinnville- and hope to be moving out there soon. I've lived in the Portland area since I was 6- and have been selling on both the east side and west side- so I am very familiar with all the Portland neighborhoods.my mom has taught me about them, and I have worked in them. So I can help you look for a house all over Portland- but since I will be living out near McMinnville, I want to specialize in the west suburbs- from Tigard west. I also know a lot about buying land- We have been looking for land for 2 years now- and are now in the process of building our own house. So, because of that, I can help you with country property- I've learned a lot about what you need to do, and look for when you buy both raw land and land with a house on it. I actually wrote the Neighborhood Guide for the West Countryside!
I also am specializing in first time home buyers- and am willing to spend the extra time it takes to educate first time home buyers so that they will understand the process better. I am willing to help people with the lower priced homes, townhouses and condos, raw land and even manufactured homes in the country- and will patiently work with you until you find what you are looking for! I know the whole Portland Metro area very well- have sold homes in Hillsboro , Beaverton , Tigard, Portland NE , SE, NW and SW- Oregon City , Lake Oswego , Milwaukie and even Dayton, Rainier and Scappoose! I can advise you on neighborhoods and can help you determine whether a home is a good investment or not.
I only take a certain number of clients- so that I will be sure to be able to take the time that you need in order to help you all the way through the process. Please call me if you have any questions. And once I move out in the country, I will be specializing in listings in the West Countryside! But I will still be co-listing with my mom, so you will have all her experience and know-how!
