Boise Elliot is a good close in neighborhood right between Northa Portland and NE Portland. It borders on I-5 and the Willamette River on the west, NE 7 th Ave to the east, Fremont to the north and Broadway to the south. The neighborhoods that border it are Overlook to the west, Lloyd to the south, Humbolt and King to the north and Irvington to the east. It is in a really close in hot area- easy to get to the Max line, easy to get across the river to downtown- close to Lloyd Center shopping- and it even has it's own hip trendy shopping area right in the neighborhood!
Mississippi Ave is a really cool pocket in this neighborhood that has lots of trendy businesses and places to eat and drink- especially between Fremont and Shaver. One thing I really like is the Rebuilding Center- they will take apart your whole house- inside or inside and outside- for about $5000- haul away the stuff-(they recycle it or sell it) and you have a clean shell to start your remodeling with. Also, this area now has a bike-pedestrian bridge that connects it with Interstate and the Max!
Boise-Eliot is a diverse community that is trying to find the balance between new businesses springing up and keeping the residential areas quiet and peaceful There are a lot of people who have lived her for years and years- and they like it- they don't want it to change too much! There are so many older historic homes with lots of character and charm all over this neighborhood -
